Improv Blogging

Call it Blogger’s Block, hectic start of the year workload or just suburban ennui, I’ve been a little lean in the writing department lately.  I’ve got the wines to review, sure, but most of my enjoyment in being a hobbyist blogger is the creative process involved in hopefully being entertaining.

So what better way to get the juices flowing than abdicating all responsibility in the process and throwing it back to you, Daddy Winebucks reader.

Picture yourself on Melrose Blvd., in Los Angeles, the home of the world famous Groundlings.  I’ve come on stage and asked you to throw out any topic, which I’ll turn around and form into an improvosational blog post.

Come on people, it’s either that or a succession of under $5.00 wine reviews.  Help me, help you…

  1. Topic: “What’s wrong with under-$5 wine reviews?”

  2. Nothing, I love them and love writing about them. But I’m licking my chops for a good topic to sink my teeth into…

  3. I’m fairly new into the wine deal. My friend got me interested in wine and I’ve been tasting several varieties and reading way too many blogs for my own good. Alas, I am under 21 (turning in July) and I’m trying to learn as much by reading as I can so I know what I may like or may buy following my birthday. I guess what I’m getting at is wine reviews are great and I can learn from those, but I’d also like to see some educational stuff on here, maybe even some historical write-ups on wines, regions, etc. that you enjoy. You may learn something out of it and the rest of us may, too :) Just a suggestion.

P.S. I live in the draconian state of Pennsylvania where the state controls all wine and spirits sales. Sigh…

  4. Thanks for stopping by Glenn. The interesting thing about wine education is that by only knowing a little bit, you actually know more than most. I’ll try to add some insight on specific types of wines or regions but if you’ve got a place near you to take even a beginner’s wine course (once you turn the corner on “adulthood” anyway – 21 – I promise you’ll have most of the info you’ll need to start your wine drinking career! Oh, and Go Birds!
